05/05/05 Dominic Korzecki Looking at this picture brings back memories of going to the pits after the races at Flemington. My sister and I were real small kids back in the late 70's/ early 80's and we used to actually get scared when my parents wanted to go see Ken Brenn Jr. I think it was the beard and the cowboy hat. Later on though it was hard not to appreciate what a great driver he was (dirt and asphalt). Ken was a trooper all the way to the end w/ Flemington. He said at the reunion last year that he quit driving after they closed the track down. He didn't want to drive anywhere else because he felt that Flemington was his home. Great driver and one hell of a nice guy. Definitely a modified legend !!!!!!!!!!
05/13/05 Paul My hat goes off to the Brenn racing stable for consistantly building the worlds most beautiful dirt cars. Decades later, the car looks awesome, and FAST- standing still. Even when he wrecked, the next week the car would come back looking new again- and many times with chrome parts!
05/16/05 Brian C. Loutrel This is one of my favorite Brenn Grant King chassis cars. This picture is from the 1981 season. I've been looking for a picture of this car for a long time. Great looking car, great paint job (I always loved the Brenn cars that had the graduated stripes going from yellow to orange), and Ken Brenn Jr. was one of Flemington's all-time greats. The body on the car in this picture shows the effects of the 1980 Syracuse race on modified stock car bodies (e.g., the Kenny Weld built #112 Batmobile.) Note the use of sheet metal instead of the stock body quarter panels. Eventually the engine hood was changed to a more aerodynamic hood later in the 1981 season. If I remember correctly, Brenn Jr. ended Billy Pauch's lengthy consecutive win streak at Flemington (I think it was 8 feature event wins in a row) in this car in August or September 1981. Thanks for finally getting a photo of this car on your website.
