Comments: Here's a real early shot of Al Michalchuk in his self built, self owned, modified which he built for his rookie Modified season.  Al started that year driving the purple Matt McMann owned #4 Gremlin and had prepared this car as a back up.

The car was built on very heavy 3 X 3 channel that was purchased at a scrapeyard and was powered by a 427.  The body (body only) was the former Matt McMann owned, Craig McCaughey driven purple #4a Sedan that Craig won a 100 lapper in.

According to Al, he was having a heck of a time keeping driveshafts in this car as pictured above which was because the engine was set so far back.  Al made some changes including moving the engine quite a bit forward shortly after this picture was taken and not only was the driveshaft problem solved, but the car handled better.

A few weeks later, with the motor moved forward, Al was leading the modified feature at EWS for most of the race until looping it with just a few laps to go...  Al did have some top 10 finishes in this car, and some heat race wins, but never did get that first mod feature win.

The last time the sedan saw the track was later in the year when Al was involved in a flip on the frontstretch of EWS with the #97 of Dave Ruberti.
