Comments: There are certain cars that I remember from my first few years of attending dirt track racing.  I can remember Fred in driving a long Falcon bodied car, with the back hiked way up high.  It had enough of an impression on me that I took the old hot knife to one of my H.O. cars and did my best to make it look like Fred's #305.

I'm not sure if this is the year or the car, but I know that there is another picture in the Vault of a very scary fire that occurred with the #305 in Middletown.  Vault visitor John Mc was there that night and hopefully will provide some additional information.

07/28/04 John Mc Yeah Joe, this was the same car, but not the same day because you can see the fuel injection here, and for Eastern States most guys switched over to a 4 barrell on gasoline to make the distance. The tall guy in the background was Earl Harmon, who owned the # V-4 that Bucky Barker drove briefly, and was also friendly w/ Will Cagle. I may be wrong, but I think the guy w/ the plaid flannel shirt w/ his back to the picture was Gene Coyle. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
07/28/04 Rick Lugg Small bodies and big injectors, I'm starting to get tears in my eyes.
07/28/04 3 Wide Now that you mention it Rick, I'm starting to weep up myself over here....although on this particular version of the #305, I think they could have run a "uke" tire on the RR (not sure of the spelling) and still cleared the quarter!   If I remember, this car was a pretty cool shade of blue too.

I see it now Rick - Here's an idea for a T-Shirt:  "There's Nothing Like a Small Body with Big Stacks!"

08/09/04 Rick Lugg I think that would be an awesome shirt. That thing could fit some huge drag tires.
09.28.10 CHIP I went to school with his nephew Mike Vanpelt, he also raced Dirt Sportsman at OCFS #112.  I think this pic, of Fred, was the same night he was leading the feature and the linkage on the injectors broke with 5laps to go and he finished 4th to Richie Erich...
09.12.11 Mike Schusler I bet you that's Sonny Strupp front tire that you can see threw the window of Fred's car..
