Comment: It was the beginning of the 2nd year for the #292
coupe and Al took the #292 down to Bridgeport early in the season. He
would go on to win a few Sportsman features that year at East Windsor and at
Flemington. If I remember correctly, the reason the car was backward
on the trailer is because the rear was a lot narrower than the front and
would fit between the trailer's fenders. Pretty sure that's Al's
father on the right. The question I get asked most about the replica #292 is, was the body really that high up in the back? (From this picture, we can pretty much answer that question!) |

08.18.14 | Brian C. Loutrel | I was at this race. It featured Sportsman and URC sprints. That's Dawn Noble's #14 Studebaker sportsman in the background - the best looking Studebaker bodied Sportsman or Modified in my opinion. Noble won the Sportsman feature that afternoon. |

Back in the days when it just mattered to get the cars to the track. No spares or anything on the trailer, just a cool looking race car. Wonder how many racers today spend them selves out of racing with their toter homes and huge enclosed trailers ? Between paying the monthly bill for the hauler and trailer is there any money left to fix a broken race car ! |
