I agree, Gil's coupe pictured here is, in my opinion, one of the 10 nicest to ever hit a dirt track. I believe this particular coupe later become Kerry Schloeder's # 46. That looks like Pee Wee Griffin's 72 next to Gil. There were good buddies. |

Now there's a couple of Southerners who had an impact in the North. Gil Hearne and Pee Wee Griffin. Gil is an example of nice guys can finish first. While my father has known Gil since the late sixties I got to know him around 1980 when I was running New Smyrna one February. To this day whenever we see each other we have a good talk about the good old days. Very proud to be able to call a champ like Gil Hearne my friend. |
