Comment: I'm not sure if this is opening day or not but I Jim
and this car making the front page of AARN back around 1973 0r '74
unfortunately for the wrong reason... Jim had the throttle stock and
the car was destroyed and I believe Jim received a broken arm as a result of
the crash. In the background, it looks like Wally Marks with the cap next to his #1 that was probably being driven by one of the Taylor Twins on this day. And if you look close you can see Red Coffin's #22 coupe through the side window of the #56. |

I believe that it may have been 1976 that Jim Baker destroyed this #56 at Reading. This should also be the same car that Todd Neiheiser and his father purchased during the winter of 79-80 and became the first #2x that he competed with at Flemington and East Windsor. Todd also had a violent crash on the front straight at Flemington in the car. Following the Flemington crash the car was re-fabricated by Don Church of ARC Enterprises and outfitted with a gremlin body. |
