Comments: Comment:  When was the last time you saw this many people... and this much excitement for the "undercard" division?....  (No disrespect meant by calling the the sportsman division the undercard, and none should be taken after looking at the size of the crowd and the kids hanging on the fence!)

For those who weren't there at the time, let me help out a little...  It's 1973... The sportsman feature rolls out...  There was Newt... and Les Katona... and Ray Liss... and Joe Hall, Lee McBride, Ken Brenn Jr, Al Michalchuk.... and another 10 guys that on any given night could pull off the win.

While the cubic inches' weren't as big, and neither was the payout, you'd never know it by the excitement that the sportsman drivers put on each week with their side by side - all out style of racing back in the early 70's at East Windsor Speedway.

*One last note:  I'll bet Newt is glad this was only a 15 lap feature because it looks like he had a 16 lap header on the left side!
