Comments: I'm a sucker for a sedan with the drivers seat just in front of the rear wheels.  Too me, this is the definition of cool.  I would love to have a few more pictures of this car as it was one of my all time favorites.  And if I remember correctly, this was a good running sportsman during the early 70's at Flemington.

12/30/02 John Mc This car was the Bob Wertz sedan that Brightbill ran @ Reading. Notice the similarity in the numbers? JMc
12/30/02 3-Wide All the years I have liked both the #57 driven by Brightbill and the #57 driven by Mathews and never realized it was the same car until Jim at Palmco's mentioned it last night and now you have confirmed it!
06/01/03 Brian Loutrel This is my all-time favorite sedan modified/sportsman. Kenny Brightbill drove this car in 1972 as the Bob Wertz # 57 and Bob Torecky bought it and ran it as the #14 modified for a couple of years.
03/21/04 (nephew) Hello. This is Billy Mathew's nephew.  My father Bob Mathews (his brother) worked with him on the car basically all the time it was in his possession. I'm only 16 so I never saw this car in action, but my dad always talked about how cool it was. But my dad rarely talks about this car anymore, since Billy died at the age of 51 a few years ago, because of a heart attack. My dad have plenty of pictures and video footage, but we have never put them online.  We would try, but I'm not sure.
3/26/04 3-Wide We're sorry to hear that Bill passed away at such a young age.  Is I had originally posted, he was one of my favorites in the Sportsman division at Flemington.  Please let your dad know that he wasn't the only one that thought this was one very cool ride.
01.02.12 Carl Kurtz I don't know if it is possible, but Billy needed to borrow my race suit for a couple of races ...Unfortunately, I never got it back ...If it still exists, I would really like to try to get my old drivers suit back...I'm hoping Billy's nephew (above post) might be able to help.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks C.A.
