12/25/02 | Dave Spurlin | This is what made Flemington so great! Going wide open! This is the 3rd turn at Flemington in 1975 during Sportsman warm-ups. |
12/26/02 | 3-Wide | Sometimes you could feel a little dissed sitting in turn 3 (dusty, homestretch lights shining in your eyes, audio victory lane only). But if you didn't let that stuff bother you, the 3rd turn treated you to some great views of racers coming toward you on the backstretch and then driving away from you thru 3 & 4. And once in a while a car or two would even come over the guardrail and visit you between the catch fence and the bottom row of the stands! (And Green Bay Packer fans think it's exciting when a competitor heads for the stands....) Fortunately, I don't think any one was hurt, but it pretty much pinned the excitement meter! |
10.24.09 | Harry Gano | Agreed, the third turn had its own weird vibe. A whole different perspective of the track. If the lines were too long for concessions on the front stretch, go to turn 3, it never had a line. |
