Comments: Newt was just about unbeatable in early 70's Sportsman competition at East Windsor and Flemington.   He also had some great rides in the #026 well into the 1990's!

02/07/03 Brett J. Butler Seeing this pic is pretty neat , its one I don't have of that car . My dad ( Jay Butler / Butler Built Racers ) Built and owned the car w/Newt until Newt took ownership down the road . That is the only shot of my dad's red International pick-up in existence .
02/08/03 Todd L Dont remember Newt in the 24 but I remember the 026 he CO-owned with Mike Tosco very well, I also remember Newt driving for Bucky Phillips in the Mobel Truck Repair car at Windsor
02/08/03 3-Wide In the early 70's, Newt ruled the Sportsman in first the Butler Built #24 and later in what I think was a Burnett creation.
05/13/03 Steve Fegley great pic, i never watched the sportsmans at flemington when i was little they never intrested me, unless newtman was on the track! later watched him run the 026 at grandview, ive always been a fan . i dont think he won that many modified features but one thing i always admired was newt usally always brought the car home in one peace an usally in the top five. he could def. drive a race car.i never got go to windser when i was lil but saw him win a ton sportsman features at flemington.
11/23/03 BOBBY FIORELLO THIS RACER COULD DRIVE ANYTHING THAT HAD WHEELS.   I WAS WORKING ON THE K3 WHEN HE JUMPED IN THE K3 JR. AT FLEMINGTON AND WENT OUT AND KICKED BUTT...  WE ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS EVER WEEK AT EWS WHEN HE DROVE THE 026.  I WOULD GO OVER TO HIS TRAILER AND HE WAS A TRUE GENTLEMAN.   THANKS ALOT FOR ALL YOUR FRIENDSHIP.
