Comments: I'm thinking this picture was taken in the late 70's or early 80's where I think Bridgeport used to line them up "3 Wide".  While we're very fond of 3 Wide racing here in the Vault, I think starting them 3 wide on a dirt track sounds like a speed shop/parts store owners dream...  This #57 was owned by Don Arnold who's son Ted raced Sportsman at Flemington for a while and will be behind the wheel of an SS Sprint at New Egypt in 2004...  Any guesses what number he chose?

12/14/03 Fred Voorhees Your right on the time period Joe.   Billy scored wins in Don's cars during the years 1981 (2 wins) and 1982 (14 wins).   He scored wins at Albany-Saratoga, Bridgeport, Penn National, Flemington and East Windsor with the car.
02/02/05 J. Stinnett This picture is from 1982 I believe.   Billy ran this car also at East Windsor.   It was a potent ride and a front runner.  Daryl Carmen drove a sister car to this at EW.  I believe a number 2, before he stepped into the 747.   Billy used to haul this car on a open trailer to the track on Friday nights by himself going right by my house.
03/25/06 Doug Arnold Don Arnold, the owner of this car, was the brother of Boyd Arnold, who raced 30X90's and super modified's in the central/west central PA area in the late 50's into the late 60's. Sad to say, neither of them are with us any longer.  I only saw this car run once and it was at the then "new" Nazareth National Speedway (dirt at that time). I sure miss those days and really miss "Uncle Don" and my father, Boyd!
10.08.10 Kevin Eckert Wow, I would not have suspected that Don Arnold of New Jersey and Boyd Arnold of PA were brothers. This looks like 1982 to me because this is how the car looked when Ron Shuman raced it at Nazareth in December.
