Comments: Had to love the Corvair of Charlie Gunther.  This was a strong running car and I always remember the "wacky" way the number was written made this look like a fun little ride.  No don't about it, back in the day, this was one of the sharpest looking sportstman and good running Sportsman!!

08/31/03 Jeff McClung The stands that I sat in for the majority of the nights I spent at the square were not even built at the time of this photo, I was sitting in turn one at this date in time, sucking in all of the dust, it was still awsome!
02/04/05 John Mc I may be wrong, but I don't think I am.............looking closer at this pic makes me think this isn't Flemington at all.....I don't remember Charlie running there, but I really think this is Middletown. That house in the background wasn't at Flem, the cover on the grandstand is too short, and he ran this car in '75 or '76, far after the high section of bleachers was built at Flem. Am I correct?
02/04/05 3-Wide I agree John...  I'm not sure where it is, but it's definitely not Flemington.
04/24/05 M-B Picture taken at Middletown in 1980.
04/24/05 3-Wide I don't know if the Corvair made it out of the 70's...  Just curious how you know it's 1980...  Thanks
05/25/05 M-B Have a picture of exact same car in The Hard Clay program of May 3, 1980 race results. May 24, 1980's program has four shot sequence of Charlie almost putting the car into the first turn bleachers. Not sure if that was the end of that car after that ride.
