Comments: Along with a spectacular career on a local level, Tighe had a great shot at winning the Daytona 500 back in the late 70's, but ran into problems on a "routine" pit stop near the end of the race while running in the top 5.

02/23/03 MotorheadMike That's one vulnerable looking sway bar there!
02/23/03 3-Wide I was thinking the same thing.  There's no arguing when it comes to Tighe's success, but the whole front end on this particular #28 looks like it would last about 2 turns!  I think that is the smallest front bumper and reinforcement I've ever seen on a stock car.  I don't know if anyone witll remember this, but there was a guy named Mike McNamara that drove a #8x silver lightweight modified at Flemingon and East Windsor on occassion.  For some reason, the front end of this car reminds me of Mike's #8x.
3/2/03 Bill Hanna Could that be Del Buss being pushed off behind Tighe in the # 4 and the orange # 27x can be none other than Mike Geiser, a long time hot shoe from Grandview. Bill Hanna
03/06/03 John Mc That's Del Buss & Mike Geiser, and if you look hard you'll see a black #16 Falcon driven by Jerry Eshelman, who later became a car owner w/ Tom Mayberry driving(this car, I believe). If you look REAL hard, the dark blue car on the track just entering the shot is Butch Riddle in the #59. This was shot in 1974, and that 28 was FAST! Light, drag tires(Nazareth was actually SOFT for awhile @ the start of the season), big horsepower.......
08/21/04 Bucky Stevens This car was a Burnett frame. Tighe had 3 or 4 of them, all of which were the same.  Scott's fabricators finished the frames themselves and not Howie Cronce.  This is why they don't look like Hager, McCaughey, Cronce etal.   These cars looked like 3/4 modifieds and were so fast that they dominated.   Tighe's attitude about the bumper was it didn't matter if he was in front.
11/22/08 Tom Aten Oh yes   Give open engine rules I believe this car had a 550 ci engine with fuel injection.  All I know is Tighe Scott sure did fly in this car.
