02/02/03 Bill Hanna Not quite sure if it is the same car or not, but this could be the first car that sat on the Pole at Syracuse in the First Schafer 100 at Syracuse in 1972. I know that it was a coach, but whether it is the same one I don't recall.  Bill Hanna - Easton, Pa
02/02/03 John Mc I believe this was Brightbill's 1st ride w/ Bob Wertz. The later cars had some red in them. JMc
02/08/03 Dave Walter Yes, this is the car he won the pole and the race at Syracuse for Labor Day. He also won Rolling Wheels the same night. His first ride with Wertz was a coupe. I think Bill Williams ran the 57 before Kenny got the ride.
04/22/03 Steve Fegley this is bob wertz 57 that is kenny brightbill, first 57 was a coupe that kenny flipped in his first ride at reading in it. then later in the yr flipped this car going for the win at reading on last lap , in turn four. would have been 72 .
04/26/03 Pat Burke I think this is the first modified that I ever remember seeing. My father had taken me to Reading for the first time and this is the car I remember. Early 70's - I was about 9 years old. Pat Burke (KB FAN) - Baltimore, MD
07/25/03 John Kase I can tell you more about this car than you have room for. I was, and am, a died in the wool Brightbill fan. This was his 1971 ride with Bob Wertz. It is a 1937 Chevy sedan. I t was the first car Brightbill built for Bob. In the winter of 1970, Wertz's garage burned to the ground, and the coupe they had from '70 was a total loss. This was what rose from the ashes, and the car had a great cartoon on the c pillar depicting it as "The Barn Burner". Paint was by a local painter named "Hamerly". Main sponsor was Pleasant Hills Golf Course. During the '71 season, while leading the feature, Kenny blew a right rear tire that forced him into the homestretch wall coming to the checkers. Trashed the car, and while it was being fixed, he reverted back to his own #19 red, white and blue sedan. This car would go on to be the teams back up car for '72, thus it did not sit on the pole at the 'Cuse. John Kase
