Comments: Here's Pee Wee Griffin in a sedan ready to run the asphalt at Trenton Speedway.  Just imaging the air whistling through that big old body going wide open down the backstretch at Trenton...

02/02/08 Walter Onora The legend or scourge of East Windsor Speedway. Did not know, He fielded a sedan. Does anyone have any information about this particular racer?
02/02/08 3Wide I'd say "Legend".  We're all still telling stories of the red #72 some 35+ years later...  Speaking of that, did Pee Wee ever drive anyone else's car?
02/03/08 Bob Becker Joe, I think this car became a blue number 49 sportsman that raced at East Windsor. The only car I remember Pee Wee driving for another owner was the #73 sedan on a couple of occasions.
02/06/08 Marty Little Does anyone recall the first car Pee Wee came north with? It was a chrome yellow #72 '37 Ford coupe built in Miami and bought from another racer - Teddy LaFleur - who had run the car in Alabama for one season.
02/18/08 Jon Battaglia For some reason i can't reply directly to the comments,  This is to marty little,i work for Pete Willoughby in port st. lucie,fl.,a good late model racer from s.florida.i did some work on Teddy LaFleur's 57 chevy several months ago.talk turned to racing, like always,he mentioned that coupe, and Pee Wee,it's a VERY small world when Pee Wee is the topic, but we haven't seen him for a while! thanx,Jon Battaglia
07/11/08 Patrick McBride PEE WEE'S SEDAN BECAME THE K 9 AND WAS DRIVEN BY PAT McBRIDE AT EAST WINDSOR AND FLEMINGTON SPEEDWAY 1971 , OWNER WAS BOB SIMMONS OF CRANBURY N.J.
01.14.09 John Mick I think Pee Wee had no choice to run this car at Trenton since his very light weight coupe was not legal at many tracks except EWS because they didn't have scales.

Okay now we all know of the famous last lap fist fight at the 1979 Daytona 500 but how many of you know about the almost near riot that Pee Wee caused at EWS in 1968? it was late October 1968 EWS had put a bounty on Pee Wee that if anybody beat Pee Wee and he was running at the end of this 100 lap race the winner would get 1,000 dollars.

Joe Kelly was driving Fodor' 13 at the time running pretty good that day and lead at the end of the first 50, and Pee Wee was second. The cars were then allowed to pit refuel, and were restarted. Joe and Pee Wee got together on the restart Pee Wee cut a tire and had to pit. Joe was leading the field by a lot when Pee Wee came out of the pits came down the front stretch cut through the infield and struck the 13 on the back stretch after the cars stopped and some pushing and shoving a near riot almost broke out.

The NJ State Troopers were called in and after much talking Bill singer announced that Joe was allowed 15 minutes to fix the car and restart and the back of the field. the race restarted and Kelly pulled off a last lap pass on Ollie Butler Driving the Silliman's 4 and won the race. I was only 12 but this is a day I will never forget!
