Comments: Comments from Mike: Dave Kneisel raced all over the northeast and had some very unique cars. 1963 was the third year for this particular car shown here after a heat win at 5 Mile Point. By then it had an overhead V8 and it's Crosley body was showing signs of age and many revampings.

Before the Crosley he had a 1951 Oldsmobile and after he had a bug in the mid-60's and later in the late seventies he had a AMC Pacer body. He was one of the first to market his chassis to other competitors and was very successful at it.

Unfortunately this great owner/driver/builder died as a results of an racing accident at Orange County Fair Speedway on Labor Day weekend of 1982. One of the true legends of the sport.

11/01/06 Walter Onora One of the first innovators in this area of the country. I remember Dave driving a white coupe, numbered 280, at East Windsor, with a wing on the roof!. Does anyone have any photos of this particular car?
11/02/06 Mike Monnat I have a picture of the all white #280 coupe but it was taken at Shangri-La and I also have a picture of an all white 5 window, purple nosed #711 with a wing on it taken at an unknown dirt track. I also have a number of other Dave Kneisel photos that cover a plethora of his cars, including his very first from Bone Stadium numbered 1000 BC.
11/02/06 3Wide Mike, if you are the owner of the original photographs and can provide the name of the original photographer, please email one or 2 over and we'll add them to the Vault.  (Please, no recent reprints or photos from unverified sources. - Thanks)
11/04/06 Rich Reinhart Does that cars still have the windshield in it???? The thing I remembered
about Dave was the white and purple cars and he usually had a light on the roof of his racers.
06/15/07 Marcee Kneisel Adams My dad put a light on top of his cars for my mom, sister and me. He knew we were watching and the light helped us pick him out on the back stretch of the track. Thank you to whoever has paid tribute to him.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss my dad.
