Comments: I wasn't around Flemington in the 60's, but I do remember Clyde in the early 70's.  Something about the way Bill Singer said the name "Clyde Suydam" that caught everyone's attention!

05/06/04 3-Wide I started this site with only about 30 pictures and most of them were of my favorite driver (Al Michalchuk #292)...  But the real reason for the site is to let those who made "The Show"... THE SHOW!...  What I mean is that while some kids thought of Mantle and Dimaggio, some of us were thinking of Ploski and Osmun..., or Chamberlain and Beavers...., or Susztek and Suydam....  They all did whatever they had to do to be "The Show" week after week with often little to show for it than a busted up racecar only to work through the week...  through the night....  to make sure they were part of the next "Show"....  Tell your dad thanks and that his efforts are appreciated.
05/08/04 Don Hendershot I was part of Clyde's crew at age 19 in 1960.  He always raced on a 1960s budget and did well for himself.  I always said if Clyde could have had the equipment that the big guns had he could turn the wheel with the best of them.   Thanks Sticks for helping me to get involved in a sport that I still love.  -   Don Hendershot

This is a model of one of Clyde Suydam's early coupes, this one being a 1937 Ford.  I used a photo supplied to me by Don Hendershot as the reference.  Clyde was an acquaintance of mine through my brother, Norm.  This car and the color scheme just caught my eye -  I thought it was pretty colorful for the era.
