Comments: I had an opportunity to talk to Don at just about this very spot on October 18th, 2003, (over 30 years since this photo was taken), and I gotta tell you, Don has somehow defied time as he looked like he hadn't lost a thing taking some hotlaps in his red #3 for the final time at Flemington.  Don was a good runner at many tracks beginning probably in the late 50's and right on through until the late 70's or maybe even the early 80's.

11/02/03 Tammy Don drove the #93 for one season due to Dick Havens committed to finishing the season with the #47.  But after that,   Dick was in the #93 for the rest of the time that my family had the car.    .  Don was an excellent driver, however the bond and respect between my family and Dick was one of a kind and I think he showed in being the track Champion in 1970!
11/03/03 3-Wide I think both drivers proved their place on the list of great drivers from the 60's and 70's.  Dick Havens and Don Stives are two names that should be on everyone's list of great ones and you guys had too of the best behind the wheel of the #93.

Other than Dick Havens and Don Stives, did anyone else drive the #93?  And here's another question... Do you know if the car was lettered by the same person who lettered the Piscopo #39 driven by Al Tasnady?  The lettering looks familiar to me and when I was a kid, I thought they were team cars as both being white with red chassis and that #39 is #93 reversed...   Thanks-

11/6/03 Tammy The #93 and the #39 were painted by the same person.  His name was Tom Backes.  No one drove the #93 other than Don Stives and Dick Havens.  I remember as a kid when Mr. Backes was coming down to our shop to paint the numbers on the car.  It was such a big event for a kid to watch him paint the car.  As a matter of fact, Mr Backes also painted the #47 as well.   Yes, my Family were part owners of the #47 until my Grandfather wanted to make his own car and have it just Family owned.  And thats when Dick came with the #93.
11/6/03 Walter Onora This picture brings back memories. I believe Don Stives drove the Taylor 93 in 1968. Check out the old 95 coupe in the background(Hoop Schaible) Hoop was in the twilight of his career.  Any pictures of that coupe??
11/07/03 Dick Havens Jr. This picture was taken, in 1967 at Flemington. Dad was driving the #47 at that time, which is the white car, you see right over the roof, of the# 93. Dad won the Flemington Championship, in 1967, driving the# 47. Dad, then joined the Taylor's # 93 in 1968, and took this car to the EWS Championship, in that year.
03/09/05 Boyer Safety This car is still around it makes some of the Williams Grove old timer events and it still looks great.
09/02/05 Bob Stives Dad took a little "detour" driving this car. He had raced at Wall Stadium on Satruday nights for many years, but took a break from asphalt to drive the 93 at East Windsor and Flemington. The 93 was a well built machine. Originally, it had "homemade" fuel injection that had been used successfully by the Fodors on the car Joe Kelly drove. The Taylors could not work out the bugs, so they went with the store-bought Hilborn injection you see in the picture.

The car was a little heavy, but had plenty of power. I believe Dick Havens drove this car one year. After that, the Taylors built a lightweight version which ran really well
