03/05/03 Jim Brewer The Fireball 99 is one of my all-time favorites.  The photo was taken at Nazareth about 1967.  Earlier versions of the car carried front fenders.  It was owned by Sam Batissa out of New Jersey and ran at Reading from 1963 through the 1967 season.  It won a total of four Reading features during those years as well as two RSCA sanctioned 100 lappers at the Allentown Fairgrounds in 1965.  In addition, Malzahn won 28 features at Nazareth driving some version of the Fireball 99.  He also won several features there in the Harold Cope #1 big block Ford.  Unfortunately I don't know much about Malzahn's records at Flemington or Middletown.
03/13/03 John Fahey Bob Malzahn was a threat to win on any track that he competed. While his regular track on Sat nights was Middletown, he did compete at Flemington from time to time. He was always competitive and used to race there in special shows.

Does anyone recognize the Car#25 in the foreground of the picture? I thought maybe Smokey Dengler , but I only remember him racing at Reading.

05/08/03 Matt Badessa My uncle, Sam Batissa, owned/built Bobby's cars during the sixties. It's great to see this shot of it at Nazareth. Some of my best memories as a kid were hanging out at my uncle's garage while he worked on the "99". Keep up the great work! Matt Badessa
05/09/03 Jim Murrow Bob Malzahn used to run Alcyon, and, I think, Nazareth in a # sSs (Known as Triple S), in the late 50s, early 60s? It had a circle with flames with the sSs inside it like the 99 does.
05/15/03 Steve Fegley My fav racecar.  Iit was always clean and sharp looking and it always ran well. This car had to be run later then 67, because I remember seeing it.  The only time I ever saw it in person at Nazareth, was when I was a couple yrs old, and I was born in 66.
06/21/03 Joe Bokros That is Smokey Dengler in the # 25. He ran Naz. a few seasons in the 60`s
10/16/03 Walter Onora I remember this car at Flemington in the late 60's. It was driven briefly by Stan Hawk (A Flemington regular during the 60's). Stan usually drove a red no. 17.  Does anyone have any pictures of Stan and His car???
01/15/05 KEVIN VARANYAK The fireball 99 was one of my favorite cars to watch in the mid to late 60's he didn't have much luck at Fleming ton and I don't think he ran there weekly.  But he ran real strong at East Windsor speedway.
02.27.12 Uncle Bill Smokey Dengler #25 - He ran in the late 40's and early 50's at Yellow Jacket stadium at G and Erie in Phila,,,,a 1/5 m ile oval
