11/02/08 Jim Brewer The #141 of Jim Hendrickson sat on the pole for this race.  It was owned by Freddy Formato and the car burned in the pits during a pitstop about halfway in the race. The car was the former Flying A of Joe Orzano. The #62 is one of Frank Trinkaus's famous rides.

The 1958 NASCAR Modified title went to Budd Olsen but Hendrickson was a very close second due to points lost in racing a non-NASCAR track during an Islip rain-out. A controversial end to the title chase since NASCAR allowed racing at unsanctioned tracks during rain outs - - Hendrickson lost his points but never protested.
11/07/08 Josephine Hendrickson When the car caught fire he was leading the field and when he jump out of the car it was still running and he wanted to get back in the race but Freddy won't go for it.  That's a shame because Jim believed he could had still won the race.  He had a huge lead on the field.

The point champion was a shame because he was so far out front in points for the National Modified Championship that year.  There was no NASCAR track that was running that night they were rained out.
02.09.09 Waylon Rogers Just wanted to say thank you for posting this picture, I have been trying to locate old pictures of all the cars my Grandfather Ed Sigler used to race and was glad I came across one in my search. Having grown up watching my Father Walter Rogers race and later on working on race cars myself, I can certainly appreciate the really early years of racing and the sacrifices these guys made. If anyone has any photos of Ed Sigler or Walter Rogers I would greatly appreciate anyone contacting me.
02.10.09 Ed Duncan Try contacting Ace Lane Jr. on the message board. His father took a lot of photos at Old Bridge were Ed ran a lot of races.
