07/29/04 Steve Pados Driving the #00 was none other than the "Silver Fox" himself Jimmy Metzler.  Jimmy would have won the feature that night but the gas pedal became loose and he couldn't look down to find the correct foot placement to keep it to the floor.  He was still credited with a third in this outing.

The #00 was owned by my late Dad, Ed Pados and my Uncle Bill Pados, who later did all of the engine work on the Pados #400 at Flemington in the 80's.  Jackie Bergstresser was driving the Sterling Lerch 77 and the car Ken Wismer is driving is the Lou Muffley #88.  Louie is still living and although never received his just dues, the 88 was a fine running race car.

Louie fielded this car when he and Harold Cope had some miscommunication about race cars.  Louie was the actual crew chief on the Harold Cope #1 race cars, and although he never received his dues, those of us in the "know" knew it was Louie who did most of the work on the race car, and was the backbone behind the success of those famous racers.  Steve Pados  - Car Quest Gasoline Alley

07/29/04 3-Wide Steve - Thanks for the corrected info about the #00 and all the background info as well.
