Comments: Comments provided by Ricky:  This is the first race ever at the old Morristown Speedway.  The track is now the site of the Mennen (after shave) Corp.  The old pit gate and entrance to the pits are still there.

02.12.12 George A. Sanford I remember the Morristown Speedway well. I think this picture should have been labeled Morristown Speedway, To the people who lived in the area it was Called Morristown Speedway or Sorannos. My Brother,  Alden Sanford and  I were in the American Legion Post 59 Junior Drum and bugle corps. and we  Participated in an exhibition as part of the opening ceremony. The closest towns to the track were Morris Plains and Collinsville.

We lived in Morris Plains and could hear he cars racing from our house on race day. As you can see in the picture the track was quite dusty and we ended up calling turns 1 and 3 Ski bumps as the track was so bumpy the  cars actually jumped over them. I think the cars started in reverse order in those days. so the car I am looking for may be in the front of the race nearest to the spectators. (Bowden Motors) Speedwall Ave Morris Plains N.J.

I am still looking for information on the Bowden Garage car.
